LARAMIE — Alyssa Glover scored with 14 seconds remaining Thursday, lifting the University of Wyoming soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Drake at the Madrid Sports Complex.

The Cowgirls improved to 1-0-0 to begin the 2026 season, while Drake fell to 0-1-0.

“Obviously a grinder. We made it harder on ourselves at times,” head coach Josh Purdum said. “It was the first game, and there were probably a lot of nerves and shaking out the cobwebs, as we were playing in front of a great crowd. I think we had a lot of the momentum and a lot of the game in hand – being a player up we should see quality chances in front of goal – and it took us to the last second to get it done.”

Glover’s goal came with Wyoming making one final push in the closing minute. Goalkeeper Haley Bartel started the sequence with a roll-out pass to Raegan Richardson, who carried the ball up the field before finding Maddie Burr. Burr then found Glover for the game-winning goal.

The goal was the 20th of Glover’s career, tying her for fourth in program history. Her 49 career points moved her into fifth place on Wyoming’s all-time list.

Bartel also added to her place in the program record book with her 19th career shutout, tying the school record.

Bartel made two saves to record the clean sheet. Drake goalkeeper Addie Ford made four saves.

Wyoming held a 19-4 advantage in shots and a 5-2 edge in shots on goal. Burr and Jennah Wanner led the Cowgirls with four shots apiece, while Lauren Westwood had three. Glover and Hadley Linder each recorded two shots.

Drake played the final 52 minutes with 10 players after Alanna Pennington received a second yellow card and was disqualified in the 38th minute.

Zoey Mahoney led Drake with two shots.

The Cowgirls return to action Sunday when they travel to Northern Colorado for a 6 p.m. match at Jackson Stadium.
