GREEN RIVER — The Green River City Council unanimously approved a special use permit filed by Wyoming.com to construct a 40-foot, high-speed, internet tower on top of Mansface Mountain.
The property is located within the Bronze Belt Conservation Overlay District and therefore required special use permit review and approval by the Council. A public hearing was scheduled during the Council’s meeting tonight, but no comment was received.
Wyoming.com Vice President of Operations Kim Kobbe told the Council that internet speeds will increase from 12.52 megabits per second to a base package of 50-100 mbps when the new tower goes online.
“Then as technology changes and things progress, we will continue to upgrade the infrastructure for higher speeds,” Kobbe said.
Kobbe added that the tower will provide wireless internet and Wyoming.com will also provide phone services for people who have distance issues with their phone or cable providers.
“We’ll be able to provide voice services over that internet connection as well,” said Kobbe.
