GREEN RIVER — During their meeting Tuesday night, the Green River City Council will consider submission of an application to the Innovative Readiness Training (IRT) Civilian-Military Partnership program for Phase II of the Green River Airport Runway Grading project.

The meeting will start at 7 pm, Tuesday, January 18. The meeting will be through Zoom. The meeting can be viewed by the public on the City’s YouTube page.

In 2020, the City partnered with the Wyoming National Guard to construct improvements to the runway at the Greater Green River Intergalactic Spaceport as a training exercise. The IRT program allows the Wyoming National Guard unites to conduct training exercises to use their skills to benefit local communities.

If approved by the Council, this application will request another round of training for the Wyoming National Guard to be conducted at the Green River airport in 2021.

The National Guard provides the personnel and equipment for the training exercises, but not materials. The City will be responsible for design and typical construction phase services, such as surveying and materials testing.
