CHEYENNE — A big blast of arctic weather will sweep across the Cowboy State over the weekend creating treacherous travel conditions as we head into Christmas week.
According to the latest Road Impact Report from the Wyoming Department of Transportation, a high-wind event will impact both I-80 and I-25 on Saturday and Sunday with crosswind gusts up to 70 miles per hour.
Blowing snow and whiteout conditions are expected along sections of I-80. The corridor between Cheyenne and Walcott Junction will begin feeling the impacts tonight, but by tomorrow afternoon strong winds, blowing snow and hazardous road conditions will stretch along the interstate and highways from Cheyenne to Rock Springs.
These conditions are forecast to last all weekend and into Monday morning. Use extreme caution if you need to travel and check the WYDOT Road and Travel page before you go. Be safe out there!
