Ida “Idee” Chailland, 88, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, in Green River.
She was born July 10, 1938, in Holman, New Mexico, Ida grew up with a heart full of warmth and a spirit radiating generosity.
Daughter of Jose Adonis and Rufina Martinez, Ida cherished her roots and the values instilled in her by her family. She attended schools in Green River, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957. Her ties to the community grew deeper as she dedicated 18 years of service as a Head Teller at First National Bank, a role from which she retired in 1990.
She married James H. ” Jim” Chailland on October 1, 1957 in Evanston. He preceded her in death in 2015.
She is survived by her devoted children: daughter Debbie Smith and husband LaMar of Green River; sons Monty Chailland of Rock Springs; Greg Chailland and his companion Carrie of Green River; and bonus daughter, Cindy Grandpre. Ida also leaves behind three cherished sisters: Darlene, Carol, and Evie. Her legacy continues through her grandson, Dustin Bingham and wife Jaden; one grand-daughter, Daniella Johnson and two treasured great-grandchildren, Kasidee Angelovic and husband Jake, and Jaxson Bingham. She is also survived by countless cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss her dearly.
Ida was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Chailland; her parents; one daughter, Mitzi Chailland; two brothers, Junior and Tony; three sisters, Adelia, Emma, and Mary; and two granddaughters, Pamela Brewer. Despite these losses, her vibrant spirit never waned.
Outside her professional and family life, Ida found joy and relaxation in golf, often seen playing at Rolling Green. She was an avid reader; she had a passion for travel, with Hawaii holding a special place in her heart, as she traveled there frequently with her late husband, Jim. Her kindness and open-heartedness left an indelible mark on all who knew her; she truly never met a stranger.

Cremation will take place; a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
A beacon of love and kindness, Ida Chailland’s presence will be missed profoundly by her community but will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
