Lady Pronghorns are Going to State Finishing Fourth at the 1A West Regional Volleyball Tournament

LANDER – Not everyone gets a second chance but, in sports, post season play is that new beginning. Farson-Eden volleyball made the most of its opportunity.

The Lady Pronghorns made a big statement Friday to open the 1A West Regional Tournament. Farson swept the top team from the northwest Burlington. Later Friday evening, the ladies would run into their old nemesis Little Snake River who got by Farson.

With their season on the line the Lady Pronghorns opened play early Saturday morning. Once again they would face a familiar foe in Dubois. The second seed from the northwest lost to Cokeville to open the tournament but rebounded with a sweep of St. Stephens.

The Lady Pronghorns jumped out early, winning the first two sets, 25-21 and 25-14. Dubois would avoid elimination by taking the third set, 25-20. They dominated the Lady Pronghorns in the fourth, 25-11, to force a fifth and deciding set.

Knowing they needed a win to get to state, Farson-Eden jumped out of the gate strong. They controlled the action in the deciding set to take a 15-6 win. The win put the Lady Pronghorns into next week’s state championship tournament.

With the pressure of state out of the way, the ladies battled for third place against Cokeville. The ladies of Cokeville entered as the third seed from the southwest. Cokeville swept Dubois in three to open the tournament but would fall to Little Snake River in the final match on Friday.

To make it to the third-place match Cokeville would have to beat Burlington. They were able to knock off the top seed three games to one to set up a fight with the Lady Pronghorns.

Cokeville would jump all over Farson in the first, taking a 25-9 win to open the match. The Lady Pronghorns fought hard in the second but again came up just a little short, 25-22. Knowing they did not want to give Farson a second chance, Cokeville came out strong in the third and were able to hold on to win the match, 25-20.
