ROCK SPRINGS — Green River and Rock Springs both finished among the top five teams at the 4A South Regional Tennis Tournament, with the Green River boys and girls each taking second place while Rock Springs finished fifth in both divisions.

Cheyenne Central swept the team titles, scoring 67 points to finish ahead of Green River’s 41 in the boys standings. Rock Springs finished fifth with 23 points. On the girls side, Central scored 59 points, followed by Green River with 50 and Rock Springs with 22.

Green River’s boys were led by a regional championship from the No. 2 doubles team of Blaise Taylor and Lucas Hokanson. The duo defeated Central’s Kaden Kean and Keegan Schmidt 6-1, 6-3 in the championship match. Green River’s Lucas Arnold finished third in No. 1 singles after defeating Cheyenne East’s Tyler Crecelius 6-4, 6-3 in the third-place match.

Kaiden Olsen added a runner-up finish for the Wolves in No. 2 singles. Olsen advanced to the championship match before falling to Central’s Sam Smedley 6-0, 6-4. Rock Springs also had two boys’ doubles teams finish in the top four. Gentry Swafford and Dax Ogden placed third in No. 1 doubles after defeating Laramie’s Heiden Cho and Bryce Asher 7-6 (7-5), 6-4, while Koda Thompson and Noah George took third in No. 3 doubles with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Cheyenne East’s Ashton Winters and Blake Love.

Green River’s girls were led by a regional championship from Rylin Arnell in No. 1 singles. Arnell defeated Laramie’s Claire Arens 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match. Sydney Lopez also reached the top three in singles, taking third in No. 2 singles after defeating Laramie’s Jovee Stender 3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 in a three-set third-place match.

The No. 1 doubles bracket featured a Sweetwater County matchup for third place, with Green River’s Brynley Beutel and Megan Thomas defeating Rock Springs’ Tahlia Knudsen and Emery Punches-Mickelson 6-1, 7-6 (8-6).

Rock Springs’ Sophia Pugmire and Braelyn Harris finished second in No. 2 doubles after reaching the championship match against Central’s Kamaile Reed and Taylor Trautwein. Pugmire and Harris fell 6-3, 6-0. Green River’s Bianca Maez and Taylor Kendall also finished in the top three, defeating Torrington’s Emily Audette and Jadah Jacobson 6-2, 6-2 in the third-place match.

Green River’s Emma Johnson and Katelyn Tanner rounded out the local girls’ top-four finishes by taking second in No. 3 doubles. Johnson and Tanner advanced to the championship match before falling to Central’s Sakura Joelson and Harley McRady 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).

With the regional tournament complete, both Green River and Rock Springs will turn their attention to the 2026 Wyoming High School State Tennis Championships. The state tournament is scheduled for Sept. 24-26 in Gillette.
