ROCK SPRINGS – A one-time incentive for certified staff was approved by the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees on Monday.
The one-time incentive will give the first 30 certified staff members or administrators $500 if they inform the district administration they do not plan to return next year. They must finish their 2014-2015 current contract to receive the incentive.
Those who are looking to take advantage of the incentive must provide a written notice to the Human Resource Office by 4 p.m. on March 2 stating they are not returning next year.
Administration said the one time $500 incentive is intended to assist them in managing the hiring process. They explained it will benefit the students by allowing the district to fill vacant position at the earliest possible time and will help attract the most highly qualified candidates.
Personnel action
The board also approved one resignation, one retirement and one new hire on Monday. The resignation came from Matthew Stephens, Spanish/ELL Instructor at Rock Springs Junior High and Independence High School. It will be effective at the end of the 2014-2015 school year.
LuAnn Wilde, resource instructor at Pilot Butte, had her retirement letter approved. It to will be effective at the end of the school Year.
In the final personnel action of the night, the board approved the hire of Laura Grossnickle for the Title One Instructor position at Sage Elementary for the remainder of the 2014-2015 school year only.
