Pete Rust sworn in as new Mayor of Green RiverGREEN RIVER – At a quiet ceremony in the new Municipal Court, January 2, 2015, Pete Rust was sworn in as Green River’s newest Mayor. Rust also took the oath of office publically at the City Council meeting Tuesday night.

Mayor Rust intends to put the themes of his campaign into action and hopes that during his tenure the people of this community become enthusiastic and engaged in the business of making Green River an even better place to live. He hopes to see positive incremental changes in his community.

One major theme of Rust’s campaign was his conviction that the most important part of any organization is the employees. He feels that it is important to recognize the everyday work of individuals that keep this City running smoothly for its citizens. Another important theme expressed during campaign season was Rust’s determination to improve intergovernmental relations.

Mayor Rust intends to build upon the positive relationships he already has with municipal, county and State leaders to help improve reciprocity, to share resources and to work together. Exploring new business opportunities and downtown development are also high priorities on his agenda.

Pete Rust is looking forward to the next four years serving as the Mayor of Green River but, he also enjoys looking backward for guidance and inspiration. Mayor Rust finds this quote from Franklin D.Roosevelt particularly inspiring as he contemplates his tenure in office and what he hopes to achieve; “The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today”.
