ROCK SPRINGS — A report of a weapon at Rock Springs Junior High Tuesday was determined to be unfounded according to a press release from Sweetwater County School District No. 1.

The district and Rock Springs Police Department investigated an allegation that a junior high student brought a firearm onto the RSJH campus. Following the investigation, the report was determined to be unfounded, with the district saying there wasn’t a verified threat to students and staff at the school.

“The District and RSPD take all reports of potential threats seriously and respond immediately to ensure the safety and security of everyone on campus,” the press release states. “We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our students, families, and community as we work together to maintain a safe learning environment.”
