ROCK SPRINGS — The first-ranked Green River High School Wrestling team traveled to Rock Springs High School on Thursday evening for a conference dual against the Tigers. The Wolves took down the Tigers 51-21 to close out the regular season competition.
Five pins were recorded for the Wolves while the Tigers earned two pins of their own. Only three matches reached the third period during the dual between the two schools.

145: Zack Weipert (GRHS) over Colton Davidson (RSHS) Decision 8-2
Weipert and Davidson kicked the dual off with a three period match. Weipert’s strong second period gave him the advantage in the end to give the Wolves a 3-0 lead.
152: Cash Christensen (RSHS) over Jacob Weipert (GRHS) Decision 10-6
Christensen helped tie the dual at 3-3 with a strong finish in the third period, scoring five points to take a 10-6 victory.
160: Jon Ty Leininger (GRHS) over Wyatt Fletcher (RSHS) Fall 3:39
The first pin of the night came from GRHS’ Jon Ty Leininger who battled his way for a second period fall at the 3:39 mark to post six more points in favor of the Wolves.
170: Lance Kettering (RSHS) over Max Orr (GRHS) Fall 3:33
The Tigers again tied the dual up in the fourth match of the night. Kettering came up with an impressive pin in the second period to tie the dual 9-9 each.
195: Payton Tucker (GRHS) over Ashton Walther (RSHS) Fall 1:27
Tucker continued his dominating year over Walther on Thursday evening. Tucker’s first round pin gave the Wolves a 15-6 lead.
220: Kaden Lloyd (GRHS) over Brandon Mortenson (RSHS) Fall 1:21
Lloyd showcased his pinning skills in another first round fall for the Wolves. Lloyd’s pin added another six to go up 21-9.
120: Clayson Mele (GRHS) over Tim Henry (RSHS) Fall 5:06
Mele’s pin came in the third period of the match after a hard fought battle to get into position for the six point victory. Green River extended the lead 39-15.
126: Kade Flores (GRHS) over RJ Davidson (RSHS) Fall 2:41
Flores added yet another Green River pin in the second period. The Wolves continued to build a strong victory over the Tigers with a 45-15 lead.
126: Zack Vasquez (RSHS) over Brett Stanton (GRHS) Fall 0:40
Vasquez brought the home crowd the second and final pin of the night for Rock Springs. Vasquez quickly pinned Stanton in under a minute in the first period.
138: Kade Knezovich (GRHS) over Landon Toth (RSHS) Fall 1:53
Green River wrapped up the night with a pin by Knezovich to put the final score 51-21.
Rock Springs will travel to Casper to take on multiple schools at Kelly Walsh High School on Saturday.
As for the Green River Wolves, the team won’t see any action on the mat until next weekend in Casper at the regional tournament. Rock Springs will also be present for the regional tournament.
