GREEN RIVER — The Green River Police Department (GRPD) is currently investigating recent reports of counterfeit bills.
“We have had recent reports of counterfeit bills being passed as real money in our area. Bills reported are $10 bills and $5 bills,” a Facebook post from the GRPD states.
From a first glance, the bills look legit but may fail the pen test; and some have paint or scribbles on them covering what appears to be a PROP or COPY stamp, according to the GRPD.
“Most people don’t give a small bill a second look, but please be diligent in checking for bill legitimacy in your money transactions,” the GRPD posts states.
If you have information or come into the possession of any suspected bills, please call Dispatch at 307-875-1400 to report the incident.
