Possible Alcohol Use and Driver Inattention Results in Fatal Accident West of Cheyenne

CHEYENNE — On January 7, 2021, a fatal crash occurred around milepost 21 on Wyoming 210 west of Cheyenne, Wyoming.  At 07:29 am, Wyoming Highway Patrol troopers were notified of a motor vehicle collision.

A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was headed east on Wyoming 210 around milepost 21 when the driver failed to negotiate a curve to the right and exited the road’s left side.  The driver steered back to the right before overcorrecting to the left.  The vehicle left the roadway a second time before colliding with a rock embankment.   

The driver of the Chevrolet has been identified as 21-year-old Laramie, Wyoming resident Jacob R. Harrold.  Harrold was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash.  The passenger has been identified as 18-year-old Cheyenne, Wyoming resident Annalyssa Warner.  Warner was not wearing a seatbelt and succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash.

Driver inattention, speed, and alcohol use are being investigated as possible contributing factors.

This is the 5th and 6th fatalities on Wyoming’s roadways in 2021 compared to 2 in 2020, 7 in 2019, and 1 in 2018 to date.
