ROCK SPRINGS – The Organization Committee of the Rock Springs Main Street/Urban Renewal Agency (URA) has started a new program to recognize our outstanding volunteers. They’ll be selecting a Volunteer of the Month as well as other special volunteer awards throughout the year. Volunteer of the Month awards are based on the number of hours volunteered while other awards will recognize various achievements and roles with the Rock Springs Main Street/URA.

At their latest meeting, the Organization Committee voted to recognize Grace Banks as the January Volunteer of the Month. Grace spent 13 hours helping the Rock Springs Main Street/URA doing a variety of projects including folding and labeling the newsletter and getting Rods and Rails Car Show Save the Date cards ready to mail; she prepared nearly 2,000 pieces for the mail! Grace is 12 years old and in the sixth grade at Pilot Butte Elementary School. (Grace was “recruited” to help by her dad, but was pretty excited to do so and put in a LOT of time.)

The Rock Springs Main Street/URA is charged with the redevelopment of Downtown Rock Springs. As part of their mission, there are four standing committees – Economic Restructuring, Organization, Promotions and Design. The Organization Committee plays a key role in keeping the Board, Committees, staff and programs of work in good shape by attracting people and funds for the organization.
