GREEN RIVER — Green River High School will host the 4A West regional swimming championship this weekend at the Green River High School Aquatics Center, bringing seven teams together for the final regional competition ahead of the state meet.

The championship will feature Cody, Evanston, Green River, Jackson, Natrona County, Riverton, and Rock Springs. Events are now scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. Friday and resume at 10 a.m. Saturday. Originally, events were scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on Friday.

The regional meet will provide teams with an opportunity to compete for regional honors as the high school swimming season moves closer to its conclusion. Green River will have the added benefit of competing at its home facility as it welcomes teams from across the region.

Green River will also host a last-chance meet next week, Thursday, Oct. 29, giving swimmers another opportunity to compete before the state championship.

The Wyoming state swimming and diving championships are scheduled for Nov. 6-7 in Gillette, the following week. With the regional meet and last-chance competition on the schedule, teams will have two more opportunities to prepare for the season’s final event.
