ROCK SPRINGS – “Nothing is going to change. We are not going to be doing anything different.”

That is what Rock Springs Parks and Recreation Director Dave Lansang again stressed to the public at Thursday’s Parks and Recreation Board meeting, the first since the council passed a policy addressing profanity in the recreation facilities.

Since the passage of the profanity in print policy Tuesday by the Rock Springs City Council, the Recreation Department and board members have received calls concerning how they would monitor it.

At Thursday’s meeting Lansang again wanted to stress to residents that nothing was going to change. He said staff is not going to inspect every t-shirt or every tattoo. They are not going to go throughout the facility looking for offensive and profane material either.

He said the policy gives the department and staff direction on what to do if a complaint is made.

“We now have a way to address it if a complaint is made,” Lansang explained. “We are not going to change our day-to-day business.”
