ROCK SPRINGS — Nary a dry eye remained in the gym at Sage Elementary School on Thursday afternoon as students and staff presented three-year-old Sage Sell and her mom, Arlene Sell, a check for $1,388.
Sage has been battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Sage Elementary raised the dollars to help out Sage and her family, with the principal agreeing that if the school raised $250 she’d kiss a pony.
Sage Elementary went over and above on their agreement, cementing the fate of Principal Tina Searle more than five times over. The principal fulfilled her end of the bargain at an emotional assembly Thursday afternoon.
Those who spoke at the assembly, including teachers and Sage’s mom, did so through wavering voices and emotional pauses as they presented the musical number honoring Sage and her mom.
It was also Sage’s birthday, so they presented the little girl with a cake, balloons, and a choir-led birthday song.
