ROCK SPRINGS — The Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees has awarded its Overland School project to Shepard Construction out of Rawlins.
The board held a special meeting tonight to vote on the lone bid that came in on the $1.45 million project.
Renovations to the former elementary school will include classroom separations, restrooms in every classroom, and structural and security alterations. This project will be funded through grant, District Capital Construction and Major Maintenance funds.
District Facilities Director Dan Selleroli told the board tonight that the old, retractable walls at Overland will become permanent after the renovation. Superintendent Kelly McGovern said that the building will still hold 15 classrooms with some additional office space.
Bids were advertised and the Sheppard bid was received and opened on January 13, 2022, according to district documents.
This is part of the $3,741,791.00 estimated budget for renovations at Overland School as the SCSD No. 1 prepares the building to become the future home of the Head Start program beginning in the 2022-2023 school year.
