ROCK SPRINGS – The YWCA honored several of its own at their annual meeting at Western Wyoming Community College Monday night.
The first recognition honored an employee for her work and dedication over the years. YWCA Finance Director Cheryl Tarno recently completed 10 years at the center. YWCA DIrector Lauren Schoenfeld honored Tarno with a plaque saying she enjoys and knows her job well. Schoenfeld said it is because of her knowledge the YWCA is able to provide many needed services to the residents of Sweetwater County.
Schoenfeld has been the director of the YWCA for approximately a year. She said Tarno’s guidance has been crucial to her growth and success as director.
“She has taught me so much about this organization,” Schoenfeld said.
Volunteers
As many agencies know, they would not be able to do what they do without the countless hours of volunteer work. They YWCA honored Kayla Kendrick with the volunteer award.
Director of the Family Justice Center Aimee Gatzke honored Kendrick at the meeting. Gatzke said Kendrick is always smiling and friendly and if they need anything answered, they can usually rely on Kendrick to have that answer.
Others honored Monday night included the YWCA Board of Directors, Teri Hansen, John Gibbens, Carla Veesart, Billie Jean Hampton, Amy Allen and Rebecca Eusek.
Board members honored included Sanders, Katrina Kirsch, Rebecca Eusek, Heather Lyman, Margaret Gibbens, Karen Marty, Susan Bates, Joselia Mendiolea, Malinda Searle, Ann Marie Clevenger, Debbie Orr, Dianna Johnson, Tina Egbert, Lindsay Parks and Nancy Johnson.
