GREEN RIVER — Wyoming Waste Systems will be implementing a rate increase for solid waste services beginning January 1, 2021.
In Wyoming Waste Sytems’ contract with the City of Green River, it states they are allowed to use the United States Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Pride Index (CPI) to determine rate increases and decreases.
The contract also states that all fee changes are subject to City Council approval, which will not be unreasonably withheld. The Green River City Council unanimously approved the rate increase.
Michelle Foote, Wyoming Waste Systems Site Manger, said during the November 17 meeting that the CPI for the parameters listed is at 1.37 percent. In dollar terms, it is a 45 cents per month increase for residential customers, and a $1.50 per month increase for small businesses.
Foote also said that the increase will extend to the Transfer Station. The tonnage rate will increase from $70.24 per ton to $71.20 per ton at the start of the new year.
