ROCK SPRINGS – Several projects ready to go out to bid from the Building and Grounds Department will be voted on Monday by the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Board.
The requests span several departments in the district. There are two projects from the transportation department. The first is to replace an antiquated exhaust system at an estimated cost of $192,000 which is in the major maintenance budget. The second is to install a heated drain system at an estimated cost of $220,000. The funding for this project is also in the major maintenance budget
The Maintenance Department is asking to outfit the Ford F-450 with a larger spreader and plow. The estimated cost of the spreader is between $6,800 to $9,850. The Blizzardplow is estimated to be between $8,900 and $10,000. There was not a specific budget for the request listed.
There are several projects ready to go to bid at the Rock Springs Junior High. The first is to replace carpeting in the hallway by the mechanical room at an estimated cost of $9,922. The second is to replace the carpeting on the auditorium stairs at an estimated cost of $8,005. The final project from the RSJH is a renovation of the special education kitchen for an American Disabilities Act access at an estimated cost of $45,890. Funding for all three projects will be from the major maintenance budget.
At Northpark, the department is asking to go to bid to replace translucent ceiling panels at an estimated cost of $161,268. At Westridge, the department is asking to do a HVAC system upgrade at an estimated cost of $300,000. At Sage Elementary, the department is asking to go to bid to upgrade wall finishes for classrooms at an estimated cost of $8,200. All project funding is in the major maintenance budget.
There are two requests for the Rock Springs High School. The first is to recover the walls in the lower level gym at an estimated in-house cost of $15,560. The second is a post approval due to a crack in the boiler which resulted in boiler rebuild at a cost of $17,834. The funds came from the major maintenance budget.
There are also two post approvals from the Central Administration Building. The first involves the computer server room. An air conditioner compressor burned out resulting in a replacement at a cost of $14,656. The second was a crack in the waste line resulting in the replacement of the entire line at an cost of $55,000. Funds for both projects were from major maintenance budget.
Technology requests
There are also several requests from the IT Department for the board’s approval. The first is to initiate the Rock Springs Junior High School Improvement Grant computer and cart purchase. This is a sole sources purchase as the equipment can only be purchased via Apple, Inc.
The financial breakdown is $130,444.52 for computers and carts and $4,255.23 for adapters for a total purchase costs of $134,699.75. This project includes 150 MacBook Air, 150 Thunderbolt Gigabit Adapters and five Bretford MobilityCarts.
The IT Department is also asking to initiate the Promethean Board and projector purchases and installs for Black Butte High School. The purchase of the Promethean Boards is an educational source purchase as the equipment must be purchased through the preferred vendor which is Wyoming Haddock Inc. The purchase of the projectors will be through Troxell and the mounting equipment will be through Haddock. Both were best price vendors. The installs will be completed through Computer Village as they are Promethean certified installers.
The financial breakdown includes $16,000 for 11 Promethean Boards and $4,400 to install them at a total cost of $20,400. For 11 projectors it is $10,120, $4,123 for the projector mounting equipment and $2,750 to install them at a total cost of $16,993.
The IT Department is also asking the board to approve the PowerEdge R820 Processor purchase for $13,808.68. This is a sole source purchase as the equipment can only be purchased via Dell Computer Corporation. This has already been purchased. The department said it was an emergency purchase for the PowerSchool database server and was received on Sept 29.
The department is also asking to renew the PowerSchool Support at a cost of $26,096.50 which will extend the contract to Nov. 28, 2015. They are also asking to renew the VMWare support through Venture Technologies for $11,172.93. This will extend the contract to Dec. 13, 2015.
Personnel
There is only one item for action in personnel. The board will act on the resignation of Sharon Marsh, School Psychologist. If approved, her resignation will become effective Jan. 30, 2015.
National Education Week Proclamation
Sweetwater County School District No. 1, in collaboration with the Sweetwater Education Association will acknowledge American Education Week Nov. 17 through Nov. 21. There will be a proclamation by the board on Monday.
Recreation Board
The board will also take action on two appointments to the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Recreation Board. It is recommended that Leo Gray and Matt Bider each be reappointed to four-year terms on the board.
Presentations
There will be three presentations at the Monday night meeting. Karl Wells will be giving the board an update on Westridge Elementary. Director of Curriculum Wanda Maloney will be giving an AdvacED exit report and Dan Selleroli will be giving a facilities update.
Executive Session
There is an executive session on the agenda. It will be for the discussion of legal matters.
