SWEETWATER COUNTY — A mask mandate order for Sweetwater County has been signed into effect on November 18, 2020 by Sweetwater County Public Health Officer Dr. Jean Stachon. The order is set to end December 4, 2020.
The order will require the public to wear masks in all public places. Minors were noted to be exempt from the order.
Any retail or commercial business open to the general public must post notices stating that face coverings are required. Employees, owners and volunteers of retail and commercial businesses must also wear face coverings at their businesses when interacting with the public. These terms also apply to county and municipal buildings and their employees.
Face coverings are not required when a person is in a personal office where the public is not present. Should a client or customer visit that personal office, masks must be worn.
When eating a restaurant, social distancing must be practiced. No more than eight people can sit at a single table unless they are of the same household.
Individuals who have medical conditions that prevent them from wearing a face covering are exempt from the order.
Face coverings are also not required when working out at a gym.
The order does state that any person that violates the order may be subject to criminal prosecution.
