ROCK SPRINGS – Just down the road about three hours west 0f Rock Springs, Western Wyoming found home-grown talent in Star Valley’s Shantay Robinson.
A recent graduate from Star Valley High in Afton, Robinson decided to take the next step in her soccer career and will be doing it as a Western Wyoming Community College Mustang. Robinson had a very successful career for the Lady Braves as in her senior season the SVHS Lady Braves were Wyoming Runners-up in the 2015 3A Soccer Cup.
Robinson was also voted as a First Team All-State Midfielder by the Wyoming Coaches Association. She played most of her senior year as an outside midfielder.
According to Head Coach Jeff Atkinson many coaches were impressed with Robinson.
“Most who saw Shantay play, including the WWCC coaching staff were impressed by her toughness and hustle,” he said. “She was one of the few players who consistently ran up and down the side lines for both offense and defense. She epitomizes what a true midfielder is – a combination of attacker and defender.”
At Western Atkinson said they see her continuing her growth and success in the sport of soccer.
“She will most likely play as an outside midfielder for the Mustangs but we know that she has the ability as desire to succeed anywhere on the field for the Mustangs,” Atkinson said. “Congratulations Shantay and good luck on the season and the start to your college academic career.”
