ROCK SPRINGS – The Rock Springs Tiger wrestlers continued the early-season growth process as they hit the road on Wednesday for a tough test against the Star Valley Braves.
The Braves are the defending 3A state champions and have a strong history with 19 wrestling championships. The Tigers fought tough but came up short to the Braves, 57-20.
Several Tigers came home with solid wins. Cameron Metcalf continued his strong early-season performance. After winning the 120 title in Evanston, Metcalf scored a major decision over Greyson Hicks, 10-0. James Black also had a solid performance in Evanston and continued it in Afton. Black scored a major decision victory over Alec Erickson, 11-1.
The other two Tiger wins came at 152 and 160. It only took Teno Trujillo 58 seconds to earn his win over Carter Hill at 152 while Thomas Rezzonico also pinned his opponent at the 5:16 mark.
The Tigers will have a day off before returning to the road. They are scheduled to travel to Worland for the Battle In the Big Horns.
