ROCK SPRINGS – The Rock Springs Tigers sent the seniors away with a win to end a strong regular season. A big second quarter including a score right before the half was the difference in the 52-30 win.
The Tigers will be at home to open the playoffs against Laramie next week.
The Tigers have not had much success against Natrona the past several years. On Friday, they ended that talk with a 22-point win over the fifth-ranked Mustangs. The Tigers also did not have to worry about playoff positioning as they already are set in the third position for next week’s opening round.
The only points in a slow first quarter came from Natrona on a field goal. The Rock Springs offense came to life in the second quarter behind a six-minute drive capped by Marcus Kalista. The Tigers outscored the Mustangs 24- 7 in the second half including a pass from quarterback Rondenelli to Brayden Barker with no time remaining. Not only did the Tigers score to end the half, they started the second half with the ball.

The Tigers continued to go to senior Matt Fowler in the second half. Fowler broke runs for 66 yards and 31 yards in the second half to keep the Tigers in front. Despite the big lead, Natrona continued to answer Rock Springs in the second half.  They scored with only a few minutes to pull within 14 late.
The Tigers recovered the onside kick and went right back to Fowler. Forty-eight yards later, the senior extended the lead and iced the game, 52-30. Natrona looked to strike quickly, but a penalty on the forward pass would bring back an 80-yard Natrona score late. Matt Fowler finished his senior season with 295 yards on 22 carries.
