Tronox To Sell Southwest Wyoming Assets To Finance Merger

SWEETWATER COUNTY — Tronox Limited has announced that as part of their acquisition of TiO2 business of Cristal, Tronox will be divesting from their soda ash facilities in Southwest Wyoming.

The sale of the local mining unit will be part of the process to raise capital for the acquisition. In an email sent out to employees, it was stated that the Tronox is currently seeking a suitable buyer, and they expect the deal to be completed around the third quarter of 2017.

According to a press release, the combination of the TiO2 businesses of Tronox and Cristal creates the world’s largest and most highly integrated TiO2 pigment producer with assets and operations on six continents.

In the email sent to employees, it is explained that the mine is currently selling every ton they produce and that the sale has no reflection on the performance of the local workforce.
