ROCK SPRINGS – Sweetwater County Fire District #1 Fire Fighters responded to two fires at the Rock Springs Landfill over the last three days. Fire Chief Jim Wamsley said “Sweetwater County Fire District #1 responded to two fires at the landfill over the weekend – one Saturday evening and a second fire early Monday morning. Crews responded on two apparatus and the fires were suppressed in cooperation with Landfill personnel. At this time the cause of the fires is under investigation. Fire District #1 would like to thank Landfill Director Kevin Herman for his assistance in suppressing the fires.” Staff at the landfill said that nothing was damaged by the fires which occurred in the garbage pit.
