ROCK SPRINGS – Around 3:22 p.m. traffic was reported to be snarled on Interstate 80 after a truck slowing down to exit was rear ended by another truck. According to Wyoming Highway Patrol Trooper Chancey Duncan both of the semis were travelling west bound on I80 in the right hand lane. The driver of the first semi attempted to leave on the 99 exit and was struck from behind by the second truck.
The collision damaged the front axle of the rear truck causing the driver to lose control of the truck. Duncan said that the truck went across both lanes of the west bound side and through the median coming to rest blocking both east bound lanes.
Traffic was diverted off the interstate and back on through the 99 off and on ramps.
No one was hurt in the accident. The drivers of a Volkswagen Utility with Rhode Island plates reported that a piece of median debris hit their windshield causing damage. The driver of the truck that caused the accident was cited for following too closely.
