CHEYENNE – The Green River Wolves continued to position themselves for regionals and state as they finished sixth among the favorites in 4A on Saturday.
Behind several strong finishes, the Wolves finished the Cheyenne Invite with 104 points putting them in sixth overall. Powerhouse Campbell County paced the field with 266 followed by Laramie with 174.5 and Kelly Walsh with 155.
Individually, the Wolves were led by Michael Richmond who had another strong meet for Green River. Michael Richmond brought home a title in the 100 fly with a time of 55.43. He just missed a second title as he finished just behind Darwin Anderson of Rock Springs in the 200 free, 1:47.64 to 1:47.85.
The Wolves had a strong 100 breaststroke with two, top five finishes. Brendan Bloomquist paced Green River with a second-place finish. He was edged out at the wall by Campbell County’s Trevor Morton, 1:03.08 to 1:03.38. Ethan Moffatt swam a 1:06.89 to finish in fifth.
The Green River divers brought home the other top ten finishes of the Invite. Keyan Moore led the way with an eighth-place finish followed by Coleton Spalding in ninth and Alejandro Grajeda in tenth.
