ROCK SPRINGS – Work to address abandoned mine shafts in the city of Rock Springs is currently taking place throughout the city.

The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Abandoned Mine Land Division is currently working on projects. These project consists of drilling and grouting of abandoned mine lands. Initially the work will require exploratory drilling to determine if grouting is needed. Below is a list of where this work may occur:

• Lionkol Road (East of the BLM horse corrals)
• Reliance (Eastern edge and east of Reliance)
• Near Macy’s Truck Repair (on Stagecoach Road)
• Sweetwater County Fair Grounds (South of Parking Lot)

AML and the city of Rock Springs continues to ask for patience from the community.

“As we continue with the mitigation efforts, we appreciate your continuing patience,” the notice said. “Traffic disruptions are anticipated to be minimal during the course of the work.”

The Contractor is Nucor, Inc., and the Project Manager is BRS, Inc.  Wilbert Engineering and Western Engineers & Geologists will be assisting the Project Manager with these mitigation efforts.
