ROCK SPRINGS – Do you have what it takes to swim 1500 meters, bike 24.4 miles and run 6.4 miles at 6,300 feet? Well now you have the opportunity to find out.
Western Wyoming Community College, in connection with the Rock Springs Professional Fire Fighters, announces the first sanctioned and approved race by USA Triathlon in Rock Springs. The “Race on the Rock” will be Sunday, September 6th.
The Olympic distance race requires a 1500 meter swim, 24.4 mile bike and a 6.4 mile run. The Sprinter’s race will be a 500 meter swim, 12.2 mile bike and a 3.2 mile run. If you are weak in one area of the race, you can organize a team of two or three and divide up the race. The races will begin and end at Western Wyoming Community College.
This sanctioned race could draw some competitive athletes but first timers are encouraged to participate. Whether you are a competitor, sponsor, volunteer or on the sidelines cheering, it will be a great time. Register by calling 922-1840 or visit the website at http://raceontherock.weebly.com.
