ROCK SPRINGS – The ladies of Western Wyoming Community College soccer continued to struggle finding goals as they dropped two at home over the weekend.
The Mustang ladies returned home this past weekend with matches against Otero and Trinidad. WWCC entered the match with an overall record of 3-3-1 and were coming off a big win against Northwest Kansas Tech.
So far this year, WWCC has struggled scoring goals. It looked as if they found the answer against Northwest Kansas Tech scoring five goals. Aly Sweet was big against Northwest Kansas with a hat trick in the match.
The Mustangs only scored three goals in their first seven games.
On Friday, Otero took a quick lead, scoring in the first minute of the match. It would remain that way until halftime. Otero scored twice in the second half and kept Western off the scoreboard.
Trinidad made its way to Rock Springs on Saturday as they Mustangs looked to forget the 3-0 loss Friday.
The WWCC defense continued its solid play as they only allowed one Trinidad goal in the first half. Unfortunately, the Mustangs continued to struggle to find a goal. In the second half, Trinidad added an insurance goal in the 84th minute to take the 2-0 win.
The Western ladies will be busy in the next couple of weeks. They hit the road for a Wednesday match against Western Nebraska. They then return home for games against Sheridan on Sept. 25 and Northwest Sept. 26.
They then return to the road for a match against Colorado Mesa Club on Sept. 29 and the UW Club Team on Oct. 2.
