GILLETTE – Several regional high school cowboys and cowgirls are in Gillette battling for buckles and the title of National Champion.
Several members of team Wyoming have already hit the arena. Last year’s Co-National Bareback Champ Brian Brown, of LaBarge, has already set the mark. His Sunday night score of 78 has him sitting on top of the standings. Casper ropers Kellan and Carson Johnson finished Sunday in third.
Kate Dickinson of Rock Springs was scheduled to go in Breakaway roping in the Sunday evening session. No time was posted. She is scheduled to run again on Saturday morning.
Ira Dickinson will have a busy Wednesday as both his saddle bronc runs will take place in the morning and evening sessions fo the day.
Farson’s Neale Jones is scheduled to get his boy’s cutting title hunt underway in the Tuesday morning session. He will make his second run on Thursday. Big Piney’s Rylee Whitman will also make her first run in girl’s cutting on Tuesday morning and return for her second on Thursday evening.
In Steer Wrestling, McKinnon’s Chance Anderson will be center stage on Tuesday morning and then again on Thursday evening.
Big Piney’s Karson  Bradley already has one buckle, the Rookie All-Around Cowgirl award her Freshman year, and will be looking to add to it. Her NHSFR gets started in pole bending Monday morning. She returns Friday evening to make her second run. She will also have a busy Wednesday with both her runs in the barrels coming on that day.
