GREEN RIVER — The Green River City Council is thinking about the city’s Riverview Cemetery expansion plan through potential action Tuesday night.
The Council is considering a $125,000 contract amendment with Steiner Thuesen, PLLC, a landscape architect from Billings, Montana, related to the plan. There are currently 199 full burial plots and 51 columbarium niches available at Riverview Cemetery. The planned expansion would add 1,763 standard burial plots across 6 acres of land. According to the city, this will be a difficult project due to the land at the cemetery being steep and having a large drainage ravine.
The Council will also consider many board and committee appointments. It will consider eight appointments, with six going to the Green River Historic Preservation Commission. Beth Parson will be considered for the Green River Arts Council, while Jason Palmer will be considered for the Sweetwater County Board of Health. Palmer’s appointment would be for a second four-year term. Nominees for the Commission are Budd Allen, Dave Mead, Jane Meiter, Mayor Pete Rust, Amy Stone, and Public Works Director Mark Westenskow.
The Green River City Council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting is open to the public and the meeting will be streamed on the city’s YouTube channel. A meeting agenda can be found here.
