ROCK SPRINGS — The Broadway Theater will host a free concert featuring an internationally-acclaimed pianist.
Victor Santiago Asuncion will perform Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. through the Piatigorsky Foundation Tour. The visit is part of a Wyoming tour presented in partnership with the Wyoming Arts Council in an initiative to bring classical music experiences to rural and underserved communities throughout the state.
“This is exactly the kind of opportunity we love being able to offer at The Broadway,” Danielle Wilson, the Broadway Theater coordinator said. “You don’t have to travel to a major city or spend a lot of money to experience an artist of this caliber. Victor has performed around the world, and on Sept. 15, our community can walk into The Broadway and experience his music for free.”
Asuncion has performed as a recitalist and concerto soloist throughout the United States and internationally, with appearances in several countries, including France, Japan, Mexico, the Philippines, and Turkey. He made his orchestral debut at age 18 with the Manila Chamber Orchestra and his New York recital debut at Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall in 1999.
According to Rock Springs Main Street, the Piatigorsky Foundation selects musicians not only for their artistry, but also for their ability to connect with audiences. Performances are intentionally informal and engaging, with artists sharing stories, anecdotes and insight into the music they perform.
The performance is part of the Piatigorsky Foundation’s mission to bring exceptional live classical music beyond traditional concert halls and directly into communities across the country. Since 1990, the foundation has presented more than 3,500 concerts in schools, senior centers, hospitals, libraries and other community venues.
