General Election Filings for Special Districts Finalized

SWEETWATER COUNTY — The upcoming General Election will feature a number of elections focused on special district boards, many of which have an impact within Sweetwater County.

According to information from the Sweetwater County Clerk’s Office, there are a few rural districts that do not have enough candidates to fill the open positions available. Other boards have just enough candidates to fill all the positions open at the end of the year.

Residents within the Castle Rock Hospital District will have four choices for three positions on the district’s board of trustees. Sandee Gunter and Daniel Stanton are seeking reelection to their positions on the board, with Ross Hargrove and Jaclyn Edwards also vying for the board seats.

For the Jamestown/Rio-Vista Fire District, David Munoz and Leora Kraft are seeking election to the two four-year positions up for election. No one has filed for the two-year unexpired term on the board. Daniel Shedden and Kael Jasperson have filed for election to the Jamestown/Rio-Vista Water and Sewer District’s two four-year terms.

There are three people seeking election to three different four-year positions on the Sweetwater Conservation District Board. Larry Folks is the sole candidate for the district’s rural representative, while Jean Dickinson is the sole candidate for the urban representative and Aaron Folks is the sole candidate for its at-large seat.

Only one candidate, Keith Floyd, has filed for the Sweetwater County Fire District No. 1’s single four-year term.

Eden Valley Boards

There is a race for three positions on the Eden Farson Cemetery District board. JoAnn Zakotnik, Stevia Sleight, Brandie Brown, and Jered Harns are seeking election to the four-year terms. For the Eden Farson Fire Control District, William Smith is the only candidate seeking election for the sole four-year position on the board. 

Ronald Noble and Bonnie Hueckstaedt are seeking election to the two four-year positions on the Eden Valley Rural Healthcare District board, while Patty Mitchelson has filed as the sole candidate for an unexpired two-year term on the district’s board. 

No one has filed for the two positions on the Eden Valley Improvement District. 

Other Boards

Two Reliance residents are seeking election to the North Sweetwater Water and Sewer District. James Brock and John Gasperetti filed to run for the two positions opening on the board. The same case exists for the Reliance Fire District, with Jessi Adkison and Joeleen Levenson seeking election to the two positions on the board. An unexpired two-year term on the fire district’s board does not have anyone seeking election to it.

Glenn Lehar, David Calvert, and Kelsey Abbot are the three seeking election to the three positions available on the Ten Mile Water and Sewer District board, while only Travis Olsen is seeking election to the three available four-year positions on the West Side Sewer District. Michael Mann is the only person seeking election to an unexpired two-year term on the West Side Sewer District board.

Pete Leibee and Keith Allen are the two seeking election to two positions on the White Mountain Water and Sewer District. 

No one has filed to serve on the Clearview Improvement and Service District. There are two positions opening on that board. 

There are two candidates seeking election to the two open positions on the High Desert Rural Healthcare District board. Bobbie Amos and Sandra Chavez filed for election to the four-year positions.

Only John (Jack) Cobb of Savery has filed for election to the two positions on the Little Snake River Conservation District.
