James Raymond Gibson, a lifelong resident of Green River, Wyoming, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at the age of 61. Born on March 25, 1965, in Evanston, Wyoming, James was the cherished son of Lloyd Wayne Gibson and Wilma Jean Degraw.
James led a life rooted in love for family, work, and the great outdoors. After graduating from Green River High School in 1983, he pursued further education at Western Wyoming Community College, where he earned certificates in HVAC and Diesel Mechanics. His passion for mechanics and dedication to his work led him to establish Jims Trucking in 1984, and later, Green River Wrecking, where he proudly served his community for over six decades.
On August 3, 1988, James married his beloved wife, Sandra Rae Shindelbower, in a beautiful ceremony in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Together, they spent 38 joyful years building memories and nurturing their family.
James was a man of many passions, particularly hunting, camping, and spending time at his cabin with his cherished grandchildren, Jaeson, Raelynn, Elodie, and Gaven, Luke, Evelyn. His love for the outdoors was only trumped by his devotion to his family, with each moment spent together being a treasure.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Gibson of Green River, Wyoming; his brothers Timothy David Gibson (Mel) of Green River, Daniel Wayne Gibson of Kingman, Arizona, and John Allen Gibson (Angela) of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; his sisters Mary Ruth Flores (Hector) of Green River, Analee Ivy Nusbaumm (Jay) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Deborah Loraine Martinez (Dave) of Kingman, Arizona. He also leaves behind a special nephew, Austin Gibson and (Kiesha); his father-in-law Loyd Shindelbower of Wheatland, Wyoming, his sister-in-law Vicki Taylor (Jim) of Wheatland, Wyoming, and Loyd Shindelbower (Mel) of Loveland, Colorado; several nieces & nephews; as well as several dear friends.
James was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his parents, his mother-in-law, Helen Louise Shindelbower, his sister Patricia Jean Gibson, and his niece April Gibson.
