ELKO, NV — Jeff Wamsley left on his last great hunt at 11 p.m. on July 25, 2016, after a valiant 2-year battle with cancer. Jeff devoted his life to providing for his family – his loving wife and soulmate Shannon, daughters Tiffiny and Jessica and sons, Jeffrey and Curtis.
Born in Evanston, Wyoming April 21, 1967, Jeff wore many hats throughout his work life. In the core-drilling industry Jeff’s keen ability to work in any environment and carry out difficult jobs carried him all over the world – first to Alaska, then to Kirgizstan, on to the Skeleton Coast of Namibia and many different locations throughout the United States. One of Jeff’s fondest experiences was at the Red Dog Mine in Alaska, where the rigs were moved with helicopters. He and his crew set many records for footage over the years and he set the bar very high for those who will follow after. The word “impossible” was just a speed-bump in his perception.
Jeff’s passions included spending time with his family – taking them camping and hunting as often as possible. Jeff was an avid collector of guns and was proud of his collection. Muscle cars and pick-ups were another passion. His ‘Cuda, purchased in high school, provided an enhancement to his mechanical abilities and an equal challenge to his driving privileges. Jeff was the proud owner of a 2011 apple green/black Heritage Soft Tail Harley Davidson.
Jeff is survived by his wife, Shannon, two daughters and two sons; Tiffiny Wamsley and companion Josh Crowder, Jessica Wamsley, Jeffrey Wamsley and his girlfriend Naomi, and Curtis Wamsley and his girlfriend Mary; granddaughter Allison Crowder, who was truly a blessing during his last months, and his adopted grandsons Trenton, Vincent, and Aidan all of Elko, NV. Father, Robert Wamsley and his wife, Rosemary, of Elko, NV; mother, Dorothy Roberts and fiancé, John Cook of West Valley City, UT; brothers, Jim (Alisa) Wamsley, of Rock Springs, WY, Bill Wamsley of Elko, NV, and Joe (Samantha) Wamsley of Rock Springs, WY; and, sister, Kelly Brink of Green River, WY; countless nieces and nephews that remember him as larger than life; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and close family friends, especially Julian and Timothy Ricker, also survive.
Family ahead of Jeff on the trail include his paternal grandparents Robert C. and Annie Stuart Wamsley, maternal grandparents Bruce and Imogene Kiever, and Uncles Kent & Curtis Wamsley, Harold Kiever, and Jerry Seip.
Services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 2 p.m. in Elko, Nevada at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1651 College Parkway. Family will receive guests an hour prior to the service at the church.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to the Jeff Wamsley Go Fund Me account to help cover the many medical costs incurred.
