Joseph Andew Stoffa (March 14, 1941 – August 8, 2026)

Joseph Andew Stoffa passed away on August 8, 2026, at Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County in Rock Springs.

He was born March 1941 in Rock Springs to Andrew and Mary Tadevich Stoffa. For the first years of his life, Joseph Andrew Stoffa was called Little Andy, because he was named after his dad. Years later, he became Joe and that is the named he preferred. Little Andy was the Star in the life of his mom, Mary. After many miscarriages, Little Andy was her only surviving child, even though he came very early, his parents were elated. His mom was very sick and weak when he was born, so his momโ€™s sisters: Julie and Goldie spent much time helping Mary and Little Andy. His grandmother, Sophia Tadevich spent many hours helping to raise Little Andy as well as his cousin, John. As a little boy, Joe and cousin John were inseparatable, because they both lived in Rock Springs. That friendship stays with them their entire lives even though they lived many miles from each other. Joe attended Catholic Schools in Wyoming until he was 13 years old and he then became a part of his Aunt Goldieโ€™s family (Uncle Sid Teuscher, Mike, John, Kay, and Nancy) due to situations in the lives of his parents. Joe became an important part of the Teuscher family in Montpelier, Idaho for many years.

Joe and his cousin Mike spent many hours building their muscles and completing with each other in good fun. They tried wrestle teams, boxing teams, and loved football. During this period of time, Joe graduated from Montpelier High School, attended trade school at Idaho State University where he studied Machine Shop Operations, and had many jobs where he worked hard. His main working experience while living in Montpelier after his formal schooling was one of the seven Sulfate Mines that were flourishing in Soda Springs, Idaho. Joe worked the night shift and tried to sleep during the day. Joe was very kind to others and very sharing with his cousins and friends during his life in Montpelier. One of his greatest gifts was caring about other people.

In his 30s, Joe moved back to his loved state of Wyoming and met the love of his life, Nola. Nola included him in her life and became a great blessing in his life. Joeโ€™s Aunt Goldie and Uncle Sid were so happy that Andy found Nola. They really liked her from the very beginning.

He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his Aunt Goldie (his second Mom), his Uncle Sid, and his cousin, Kay.

Survivors include his partner Nola Smith, nephew Charles Smith; as well as his surviving cousins Michael C. Teuscher, Anthony John Legerski, and Nancy Teuscher Preston.

Cremation has taken place and services will be announced at a later date for Mass and inurnment in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery.
