ROCK SPRINGS – Juanita Rose Muir passed away on August 8, 2014.
Juanita Rose Muir was born November 30, 1926 in Arkansas City, Kansas, to George (Pete) and Nina Shaw. She went to school in Nebraska until she was in fifth grade. The family moved to Nyssa, Oregon where her parents operated Shaw’s Cafe. She finished her schooling at Nyssa High School class of 1944.
Juanita met Lynn Muir, Sr. and was married January 30, 1947. They had three sons and one daughter. Through the years they worked up and down the Columbia River on dams and construction jobs. Rock Springs became their home in the early 1970’s and both Juanita and Lynn worked at Jim Bridger Power Plant.
They retired and moved to Kimberly, Idaho. From Idaho they moved and resided at Quartzsite, Arizona. Her husband Lynn passed away in 1983. For a few years she traveled to Nyssa, Oregon in summer months and resided at her mother’s house. Traveling became too much and she started living year around in Quartzsite. She returned to Rock Springs in 2009 and resided with her daughter. Castle Rock Convalescent Center has been her home since October 2011.
She loved crafts, needlework, sewing, camping, fishing and loved to meet people. Most of all she loved family and grandkids.
Juanita was preceded in death by her parents Pete and Nina, her brother Bob, her sister Maxine Bingman, her husband Lynn and son Gary Muir.
Juanita is survived by her son Lynn Muir, Jr. and wife Marilyn of Rock Springs, WY, daughter Anita Todd and husband Jim of Rock Springs, WY and Val Muir of Golden Valley, AZ. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Shawn Muir, Tracy Meats, Cody Todd, Bobby Todd and Jami Kennah of Rock Springs. Also survived by eight other grandchildren: Cami Muir, Scott Muir, Kimberly Muir, Jacqueline Hartford, Tyrone Mussleman, Chris Muir, Travis Muir, and Tara Pona. Juanita has twenty-four great grandchildren.
Juanita will be buried at Sunset Memorial Park in Twin Falls, Idaho on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.
