Kansas Man Arrested in Casper Sentenced to 17 Years on a Variety of Charges Including Kidnapping

CHEYENNE – A Kansas man wanted for kidnapping and robbery was sentenced to 17 years in federal court. The man was arrested in Casper.

Marshall Glenn McGinty, 44, was sentenced by Federal District Court Judge Alan B. Johnson on September 24, 2015, for being a felon in possession of a firearm, carjacking and using and carrying a firearm during a crime of violence.

McGinty received 204 months imprisonment, to be followed by five years of supervised release, and was ordered to pay a $300 special assessment and restitution in the amount of $5,338.87. This case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

McGinty, of Emporia, Kan., was wanted on several criminal charges, including kidnapping and robbery, in connection with a Feb. 16 incident which happened in Kansas. Police reported the event occurred at a home in Albany Township.

Court documents report that after breaking into a home in Kansas, he held an assault riffle on a kidnapping victim who was watching the home. Law enforcement described the weapon as an AK-47.

He later drove the victim to a bank and ordered the victim to withdraw money. He then freed the victim and left the scene.

McGinty was found at a Walmart in Casper. It was reported by law enforcement he was found with a Honda Fit that he stole during the kidnapping.
