GREYBULL – After a strong opening tournament, the Farson-Eden Lady Pronghorn volleyball squad stepped it up this weekend at the Greybull-Riverside Duals. The ladies would take four wins against four 2A schools to move to 7-2 on the season.
The ladies opened the season going 3-2 at the Saratoga Invitational. The only two losses came from teams who qualified for the state tournament last year. At the duals, Farson would face several strong 2A opponents.
They would open with a wild one against Big Piney. In the first game, the two teams combined for 58 points. In the end, FE would win the critical points down the stretch to take the 30-28 win in the first set. The second game would also go to the end with the Lady Pronghorns taking the match, 25-23. Big Piney’s only loss of the duals would be courtesy of Farson.
Up next for Farson-Eden would be Greybull who opened the season going 6-1. The match would go all three sets with the ladies of Farson coming out with another close win. Farson coaches got a chance to see the determination of the team after the Lady Pronghorns dropped the first set, 25-22. The second would go the distance with Farson digging deep for the 25-23 win. The final game would also be decided at the end with FE earning the 15-13 win for the match.
One of the losses at Saratoga came from conference foe Little Snake River. Farson would get another shot in another non-conference match. This time around, the ladies started strong and kept their foot on the gas. They took game one, 25-11 and followed it with a 25-20 win to get a little revenge.
Farson would close the tournament against another team which opened season play with a winning record, Wind River. Like most of the first sets of the duals, the Pronghorns would have to fight. They would need extra points but would take game one, 27-25. Riding the momentum, the ladies closed out the match in style with a 25-15 win.
The LadyPronghorns only have one game on the schedule next week but it is a big one. The ladies will play in front of the home crowd for the first time on Sept. 9 as they host Cokeville.
