FREMONT COUNTY — No human remains were found inside a barrel recovered from Fremont Lake during a recent search and recover effort for three victims of a 1980s murder case, Fremont County Corner Erin Ivie said.

“After careful forensic inspection, no human remains were found contained within the barrel,” the press release said. “The drum contained only a small amount of lake-bottom sediment and was otherwise empty.”

Ivie said the recovery effort for the remains of Virginia, Richard and Regan Uden involved extraordinarily levels of cooperation from volunteers, search and rescue teams, Fremont County and Sublette County personal and countless others.

The Fremont County Coroner’s office said it is committed to assisting in any ongoing recovery efforts to bring the Uden family home and will provide assistance if another recovery operation is undertaken.

“Our thoughts remain with the Uden family and everyone who has been affected by this situation,” Ivie said in the release. “We will continue to stand ready to assist in the effort to bring the family home and help provide the answers and closure that their loved ones and our community deserve.”
