ROCK SPRINGS — Residents will get a chance to hear from candidates seeking election to the Wyoming House of Representatives Thursday evening.
The Rock Springs Chamber of Commerce will host political debates for candidates running for House Districts 17 and 48 at Western Wyoming College in Room 1302. The House District 17 debate between Democrat Rah Reinholz and Republican Elizabeth Bingham will take place at 6 p.m. The debate between Republican Jim Wamsley and Democrat Susan Schmid begins at 6:30 p.m.
The four candidates are vying for their first term in the Wyoming Legislature, with Reinholz and Bingham competing for a seat currently occupied by Rep. J.T. Larson, R-Rock Springs, who decided not to seek reelection. Wamsley and Schmid are competing for a seat currently held by Rep. Darin McCann, R-Rock Springs, whom Wamsley defeated for the Republican nomination during the August Primary Election. Schmid earned her nomination through a write-in campaign she initiated on the Democratic side of the ballot.
The event is open to the public and TRN Media will stream both debates on SweetwaterNOW’s Facebook page.
