ROCK SPRINGS — The Rock Springs Junior High School Music Department will present a production of “Annie” on Thursday, February 13th and Friday, February 14th at 7:00 pm in the Junior High School Auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public.
Annie is the story of an eleven-year-old orphan girl who lives in an orphanage run by the tyrannical Miss Hannigan. Annie’s situation takes a dramatic turn for the better when she is selected to spend a short time at the residence of the wealthy Oliver Warbucks. Quickly, she charms the hearts of the household staff and that of Mr. Warbucks himself. He decides to help Annie find her long lost parents by offering a reward if they would come to him and prove their identity. However, Miss Hannigan, her evil brother, Rooster, and Lily, a female accomplice, plan to impersonate those people to get the reward for themselves.
Annie, the Musical, is based on the comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie” by Harold Gray. It opened on Broadway in 1977, and ran for six years. Its 2,377 performances make it the tenth longest running musical in Broadway history. It won seven Tony awards, including Best Musical.
In the Rock Springs Junior High performance, Jaiden Collins and Alicia Stevens will share the role of Annie. Emma Hind and Tessa Johnson will be sharing the role of Grace Farrell. Keian Willingham plays Mr. Warbucks. Laiba Fatima and Liz Chollak will share Miss Hannigan. Other cast members include; Caitlin Bellamy, Anna George, Dejanae Westbrook, Jenae Ramirez, Ashley Jessen, Kendall Gipson, Rayven Lucero, Sam Mortensen, Ella Salahay, Tobias Propst, Jesus Covarrubias, Jaydin Adams, Damon Adams, Brendan Blackwell, Ally Creek, Elizabeth Cozzens, Emily Gomez Cuamatzin, Xitaly Chavarria, Jade Mullins, CeeJay Berg, Breezy Mathis, Kim Thompson, Braden VanKam, Kelsey McGuire, Felicia Chambers, Dylan While, Carley Ebert, and Tanner Varndell. The production is directed by Leah Hoblit, with assistance from Jene Chollak and Joann Stevens.
The RSJH staff and PTSO will be serving a themed dinner beginning at 5:30 before the show both nights. Tickets are $5.00 and are available at the front office at Rock Springs Junior High.
