ROCK SPRINGS – On Monday night, the Sweetwater County School District No. 1 Board of Trustees honored the girls of Rock Springs High School who were recently picked to take part in Wyoming Girls State.
The purpose of American Legion Auxiliary Department of Wyoming Girls State is to provide citizenship training for girls who have completed their junior year of high School. The program emphasized the importance of government in modern life and educates young women in the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of American Citizenship. It awakens a sincere conviction that a well-informed, intelligent, participating citizenry is vital to protect and preserve our American institutions and our democracy. These goals are achieved by actual participation in a simulation of the political and governmental process.
A delegate is selected for her outstanding achievements, within her own school and community. The number of candidates going through the selection process this year is a true testament of the dedicated faculty and staff members at Rock Springs High School.
