SWEETWATER COUNTY — The Sweetwater County Commission will hear an update on the finalization of the Sweetwater Industrial Development Study for the Middle Baxter Road.
The Sweetwater County Commission will meet at 8:30 am on Tuesday, May 18, at the Commission Chambers at the Sweetwater County Courthouse.
The Sweetwater Economic Development Coalition (SEDC) has announced that the study has been completed and Eric Bingham, Sweetwater County Land Use Director, will be presenting the findings to the Commission.
The presentation is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., however, time is subject to change depending on the progress of the meeting. SEDC invites the public to attend the presentation either via the Sweetwater County Commission YouTube page or in person.
The Sweetwater County Industrial Plan looks to activate 15,000 acres of land for development located in the Airport-Middle Baxter Area of Sweetwater County near the Southwest Wyoming Regional Airport. This area of land represents an opportunity to attract new and diverse businesses to Sweetwater County and spur economic growth. The study encompasses three parts of research, targeted industry analysis, infrastructure analysis and implementation.
Other Business
In other business, the Commission will discuss the 6th Penny, also known as the special purpose tax, total amount and the allotments. Sweetwater County Treasurer Robb Slaughter will lead the discussion, which is slated to take place at the end of the meeting.
The Commissioners will also consider approval for Wyoming Downs LLC to operate authorized historic horse racing terminals at the Town Bar & Grill in Green River without a sunset provision. Wyoming Downs currently operates pari-mutuel simulcast wagering within Sweetwater County at Liquor Depot in Rock Springs.
