ROCK SPRINGS – The Rock Springs City Council approved several liquor catering and malt beverage permits for upcoming events. Several of the biggest summertime events were among them.
The council approved two malt beverage permits for this weekend’s International Day event. The first is for July 8 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. This is for the performers and groups responsible for the event.
On Saturday, the permit approved will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Rock Springs Councilman David Tate reminded residents that there is a pancake breakfast starting at 8 a.m. with entertainment starting at 10 a.m.

Sweetwater Events Complex Permits
Also approved were several permits for the Sweetwater County Events Complex. Among them were five malt beverage permits for the Wyoming Big Show. The permits on Aug. 2-5 are good from 4 p.m. until midnight. On Aug. 6, the permit runs from noon until midnight.
Councilman David Halter asked if the police recommendations, specifically the electronic ID scanner, signage and training would be followed.
Sweetwater County Events Complex Marketing and Events Manager Kandi Pendleton reported they do use the ID scanner on those who look like they are under 21. She said the majority of the servers have been through Tips training and they are also partnering with the Wyoming Department of Transportation this year in a campaign which will provide signage reminding residents not to drink and drive.
Four liquor catering permits for the live horse racing events at the Events Complex were approved. The request was made by Black Rock, Inc. Racing will take place Aug. 20-21 and again on Aug. 27-28. The permits are good from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. on all four days.
The Red Desert Roundup also had several liquor catering permits approved. The request came from the Liquor Depot. The permits run from July 28-30 from 6 p.m. until midnight each day at the Events Complex.
The final request approved was from the Fish Bowl, LLC., for a liquor catering permit for the Sell/Kimsey wedding on July 16 from 4 p.m. until midnight at the Sweetwater Events Complex.
