CHEYENNE – A dynamic lineup including addresses from Governor Matt Mead, two keynote speakers and more than 60 breakout presenters is slated for the second annual Wyoming Safety and Workforce Summit on June 25-26 at Little America Hotel and Resort in Cheyenne.
The Wyoming Safety and Workforce Summit is a joint effort of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services, the Wyoming Workforce Development Council and the Wyoming Oil and Gas Industry Safety Alliance.
“This event continues the focus on workforce safety. It offers information and tools for employees and employers. Wyoming workers are our neighbors, friends and family. We want them to come home safely,” Governor Matt Mead said.
The summit appeals to business owners and managers, human resource managers, workforce development specialists, training providers, administrators at all levels and workers looking to improve their safety skills and overall on-the-job performance.
“The 2014 Wyoming Safety and Workforce Summit is a great opportunity for participants to learn best practices, hear from compelling speakers and celebrate Wyoming’s outstanding employers,” said Director of the Wyoming Department of Workforce Services Joan Evans. “The Department of Workforce Services and our partners are looking forward to another successful Summit.”
The June 25 keynote will be offered by Christine Cashen, who delivers a fast-paced, hilarious, content-rich presentation that offers her audience ways to better handle conflict, reduce stress, energize employees and become more innovative. Her latest book, The Good Stuff: Quips and Tips on Life, Love, Work and Happiness, won a Next Generation Indie Book Award.
Jacy Good will address attendees with a personal account of her miraculous recovery from a head-on collision caused by a distracted driver that claimed the lives of both her parents. Good has worked tirelessly to educate the public about the dangers of cell phone use while driving as well as advocate for legislation to help eradicate an epidemic that shatters thousands of American lives every year. Her message, “Hang Up and Drive,” has been delivered at 382 events in 28 states since 2011, including Oprah Winfrey’s show.
Governor Mead will join the June 25 evening awards banquet and help recognize Wyoming employers who have demonstrated a strong safety culture and excellence in safety and health programs. Recognition will also go to Wyoming employers and individuals who have made exceptional contributions to improving the skills and abilities of Wyoming’s workers.
