Walmart Larceny Suspect Apprehended at Motel 8

Thomas Ryker was arrested last evening for alleged larceny and possession of a controlled substance in the Motel 8 parking lot in Rock Springs.

ROCK SPRINGS — The Rock Springs Police Department arrested a man in the Motel 8 parking lot after officers were dispatched to Walmart in response to a reported larceny around 8 p.m. last night.

Walmart officials report approximately $600 of items were stolen from the store.

Through the investigation the suspect, 44-year-old Thomas Ryker, was located inside the suspect vehicle while parked at Motel 8, 108 Gateway Boulevard.

While the investigation was ongoing, a K9 was requested and Trooper Carris of the Wyoming Highway Patrol responded with his K9 partner, Zoey.

Zoey positively indicated there was illegal drugs in the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed seven grams of methamphetamine as well as methamphetamine related paraphernalia. In addition to the methamphetamine, several of the stolen items from Walmart were recovered.

Ryker was arrested for Larceny and Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
